Chicken Town

Sitting on my couch listing to rain I realized I did not like any of the pictures that I took this weekend. I didn’t try very hard and I wasn’t ok with that. I grabbed my camera and ran to my car. I had to drive as fast as I could because I was running out of day light and I didn’t know where I was going.

I drove and drove, further and further away from civilization. I drove past the chicken house and slammed on the breaks, put it in reverse and floored it. I was there.

Waiting out side behind a tree waiting for someone to come out might seem weird to some people. But probably not as weird as someone ringing your doorbell and asking to take pictures of your chickens. So I waited. I was committed.

When they came out I was ready. “Hey ma’am,” I said. “I really like your chickens. I can take pictures of them…. Please?”

I was in luck. Feeding was at five and will be tomorrow and the day after that. Chances are I will be there.

Most of these pictures are the same. I didn’t get a chance to take many pictures. I was trying to build a relationship with these people so that I could have a chance to go back and take pictures of them and not their chickens. I think I succeeded.

Did you see that?

I did not get a chance to take as many pictures as I wanted to this is weekend. But I did have my camera with me every where I went. These are a few from the christmas party and open studio.
